Why does your agency need grant money?

Things you’ll want to include in your Statement of Introduction:

  • Clearly establish who is applying for funds
  • Describe applicant agency purpose and goals
  • Describe agency programs
  • Describe clients or constituents
  • Provide evidence of accomplishments
  • Offer statistics to support credibility
  • Offer statements and/or endorsements to support credibility
  • Support credibility in program area in which funds are sought
  • Lead logically to a problem statement
  • Make it interesting, free of jargon, and brief

Basically, this is the section where you tout how proud you are of your agency and why your agency has the ability to follow through on promises. Grant makers fund the best ideas and methods affecting the greatest number served, so make sure you show that your agency is the right fit to achieve their goal.
